Academics
At Neerja Modi School Junior School, we embrace the philosophy that early childhood education should be a joyful, playful, and enriching experience that helps children develop not just academic skills but social, emotional, and physical abilities as well. This program is designed to provide a secure foundation for future success and school readiness, curated for children aged 3-8.
Our teachers are trained to recognize the developmental milestones of each child and to guide them with patience and encouragement. By incorporating a mix of child-led and teacher-guided activities, we ensure that each child has the freedom to explore their interests while receiving the guidance they need to build foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation.
With a limited class size and a student-teacher ratio of 1:15, it is a journey where each child’s potential is nurtured. Beyond academics, our programme cultivates inner resilience and a passion for perpetual learning, within a free and supportive environment. The learning pedagogy is based on outcomes in the domains of physical and motor development, cognitive development, socio-emotional-ethical development, cultural/artistic development, and the development of communication and early language, literacy, and numeracy.
The Preparatory Stage will comprise three years of education building on the play, discovery, and activity-based pedagogical and curricular style of the Foundational Stage, and will also begin to incorporate some light textbooks as well as aspects of more formal but interactive classroom learning, in order to lay a solid groundwork across subjects, including reading, writing, speaking, physical education, art, languages, science, and mathematics.
Beyond memorisation, our program prioritizes conceptual understanding. Students ride the current of critical thinking, navigating the river of knowledge with depth and breadth. Designed for students aged 8 to 11, in classes capped at 24, our intimate learning environment lets students flourish under the guidance of a dedicated faculty.

The Middle School Program at NMS believes education is more than just mastering subjects—it’s about nurturing the whole child, fostering a love of learning. Designed for students aged 11 to 14, in studios capped at 23, our intimate learning environment lets students flourish under the guidance of a dedicated faculty.
The year ends with Personal Projects allowing them to shine in areas they’re truly passionate about. We prepare students not just for the next grade but for life. Our progressive approach equips students with the skills and mindset needed to navigate the complexities of the future. We encourage curiosity, resilience, and a passion for lifelong learning—ensuring that every child who walks through our doors is empowered to make a positive impact on the world.
As a progressive school, we integrate technology in meaningful ways that support both academic learning and future readiness. While we recognize the importance of traditional educational tools, we also understand the necessity of preparing students for a rapidly changing, digital world.
Students are taught the skills needed to navigate the digital world safely, ethically, and responsibly. We emphasize critical thinking, responsible use of technology, and digital citizenship.
Our curriculum is designed to be interdisciplinary—connecting subjects across traditional boundaries. Rather than learning subjects in isolation, students explore real-world themes that require them to draw on knowledge from multiple disciplines. For example, a unit on climate change might integrate science, geography, social studies, and even art, with students investigating environmental issues, conducting experiments, and creating projects to raise awareness.
In keeping with our progressive values, Innovate Middle School features flexible learning environments designed to support diverse learning styles and foster collaboration. Traditional classroom setups are replaced with adaptable spaces that can be reconfigured for different activities. Collaborative work is a cornerstone of our school culture. Students work together on projects, debates, and discussions in dedicated spaces designed for teamwork. These spaces are equipped with the latest technology to support digital collaboration and communication.
The Senior School consolidates the learnings of earlier years to develop young adults who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge; flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically whilst excelling in traditional academic subjects. There is greater emphasis on building an international spirit and the 21st century skills of communication, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and leadership that will serve these young men and women well as they prepare to step out into the world beyond the school gates.
The Senior School comprises grades 9 to 12.
